This hillside tapestry of spectacular Fall colors caught my eye one warm seasonal afternoon while hiking along one of the many trails that populate the Slate River Valley near Crested Butte Colorado. So overwhelming was the collection of colors, shapes and textures, that my observations crossed over into a dreamy realm of abstraction. I saw not just trees, sage, grass and sky, but a collection of visually stunning forms set aglow by a kaleidoscope of colors. So while creating this painting, I tried to honor both the natural beauty of the landscape and the fundamental elements of design.
