The Cement Creek River runs along the valley floor just a few miles outside my home town of Crested Butte Colorado. Since the early 70’s, a close friend of mine had been renting an old miner’s cabin along the shores of this scenic waterway. Sadly, the property was recently sold and his years as a tenant came to an abrupt end. Seen here in this painting is one final outing along the riverbanks. My friend strolled the shoreline with fishing pole in hand while my son and I and the family dog took in the sights.

Note: The title of this painting is accompanied by the word “Compagno”, which is Italian for companion. This indicates that the painting has a companion piece of either smaller or larger scale. The Compagno is not be confused with a “Study”. These paintings are worked on simultaneously. By working alongside one another as companions, each piece contributes to the creation of a visionary concept.
